A lover of all things music, Mike Cook is a multi-instrumentalist that explores various genres of music to create a fusion sound that is all his own.
Growing up in San Francisco, California, Mike was surrounded by musical talent. Being in a musical family, with a mom that played piano and a father proficient in several instruments, it was only natural for Mike to begin learning and playing piano at the age of 7. He continued his musical explorations by successfully learning other instruments – the saxophone at age 12 and guitar at the age of 14.
Having a heart for music and having mastered a number of instruments, Mike also added the drums and bass guitar to his list of musical accomplishments, which lead him to not only making music, but also performing with several bands over the years.
Wanting to expand his horizons and explore his own personal sound, Mike began to create his own music and venture into solo releases. In 2011 he did just that, and his first two solo studio projects feature various instrumentals and electronica-based music.
Mike lists some of the greats as his main musical influences. His list includes guitar legends such as Jimmy Hendrix, Joe Satriani and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, along with Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and the Beatles. In addition, his love of electronica came from genre influencers such Jan Hammer, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Yaz and Art of Noise.
On July 9, 2016, Mike released his third project ‘Love for all Infinities’ in which he explores his musical roots and features primarily guitar and piano based music, inclusive of some emotionally driven instrumentals. Mike’s latest album was released on August 1, 2016. Titled ‘California Sunset’, the album features all guitar music and fuses rock & singer/songwriter genres.
You can find all of Mike’s releases on iTunes, Amazon Music, Spotify, CDBaby, and online radio stations.
